The Altar of the Homeland is a commemorative monument that is inside the Paseo Campo de Carabobo after a Plaza and the Triumphal Arch of Carabobo,it is located in the Libertador Municipality in southwestern Carabobo State in north-central Venezuela. It was built by order of the government of General Juan Vicente Gomez in 1931 to commemorate the centenary of the death of the Liberator and father of the Venezuelan homeland Simon Bolivar who died in 1830.
It consists of a series of sculptures of Venezuelan military sculptor Antonio Rodriguez del Villar headed in the main part by a monument to General Simon Bolivar who commanded the patriot troops in the Battle of Carabobo in 1821. Among other military men are also honored with sculptures of Santiago Mariño, José Antonio Páez, Manuel Cedeño and Ambrosio Plaza.
