Facts and practical information
Bolívar Square is commonly a plaza in honor of Venezuelan hero Simón Bolívar, called the Liberator by means of the title that was granted by the Municipality of Caracas on October 14, 1813 and ratified at the Congress of Angostura in 1819.
This square is what is known as the colonial, governmental, political and historical center of each city, town, municipality and state of Venezuela. In colonial-era cities, the Plaza Bolivar corresponds to an ancient Plaza Mayor.
