Independence Palace, Ho Chi Minh City

Independence Palace, also known as Reunification Palace, stands as a historical and architectural landmark in the heart of Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. This iconic building serves as a symbol of the country's turbulent past, particularly during the Vietnam War.

Constructed on the site of the former Norodom Palace, the Independence Palace was designed by architect Ngo Viet Thu and completed in 1966. It was the residence and working place of the President of South Vietnam during the Vietnam War. The palace gained international fame on April 30, 1975, when a North Vietnamese Army tank crashed through its gates, signifying the end of the war and the beginning of the reunification of Vietnam.
