Climate of Andorra
Andorra is located in a subtropical climate zone, but due to the relief of the terrain there is a mountain climate. It is characterized by climatic stackedness - the higher above sea level, the colder it gets.
Winters are cold and snowy and much colder in high mountain areas. In the valleys, temperatures remain at 0°C, while in mountainous areas they drop to -15°C. Winter lasts for 6 months and is rich in snowfall, which in the highest parts of the mountains lasts almost all year.
Summers are relatively warm, but not hot - the mercury bar oscillates between 20°C and 25°C. The weather is sunny most days, but there are also thunderstorms with brief downpours. High in the mountains it is slightly cooler, with temperatures rarely exceeding 15°C.
Rainfall in Andorra occurs throughout the year (about 1,000 mm - 2,000 mm per year) with the greatest intensity in spring and autumn. In winter, precipitation comes in the form of snow.
