Facts and practical information

The Karner of Gmünd in Carinthia stands northeast of the parish church. First mentioned in a document in 1376, the two-story Romanesque round building dates from the second half of the 12th century. The upper floor housed a chapel of St. Michael. The irregular heptagonal room has a low-pitched star-shaped groined vault, the figural consoles only touching down just above the floor. The sculpted keystone depicts the Christ Lamb.
