The Roman Catholic Church of St. Cajetan stands on Kajetanerplatz, which is located in the Kaiviertel, in the south of the old town of Salzburg. It is dedicated to St. Maximilian and St. Cajetan, the patrocinium being celebrated on Maximilian's Day, October 12.It had been built as a monastery church of the Theatines, who had operated a Theatine monastery there from 1685 to 1808, by Archbishop Max Gandolf Kuenburg and consecrated by Johann Ernst Count Thun in 1700.
