Hauerseehütte
Facts and practical information
The Hauerseehütte is a self-catering hut of the Ludwigsburg Section of the German Alpine Club. Located at an altitude of 2383 m above sea level in the Ötztal Alps, in the Austrian province of Tyrol, the hut was built from 1964 to 1969 in place of the former Leipziger Hütte, destroyed by an avalanche in 1947, which had previously been opened on August 11, 1929. The Hauerseehütte is a necessary base on the middle Geigenkamm.
The cottage season starts from the fourth week in June and ends on the last weekend in September. During this period the hut is open and supervised throughout. In the early and late season the hut is not supervised. In winter, the Hauerseehütte is closed from mid-October to the end of May due to avalanche danger.
The cabin equipment consists of 15 mattress camps and some emergency camps; two gas stoves and a wood stove are available.
