Königshöhle
Facts and practical information
The Königshöhle is a 25 m deep cave in the municipality of Baden in Lower Austria. It is the eponymous site for the Neolithic Baden culture in Austria. West of Baden, rises at the entrance of the Helenental the hill with the castle ruins Rauheneck. Between the Rauheneck plateau and the small Lindenkogel to the northwest lies the narrow Wolf Valley. Almost at the end of this incision, on the northwestern slope under the plateau and below a limestone rock at an altitude of about 350 meters, lies the King's Cave, which can be entered through a portal 16 meters wide and 3 meters high. Under a window of four meters in diameter in the cave ceiling lies a massive block of debris.
