Richterhöhe, Salzburg
Facts and practical information
The Richterhöhe forms the highest elevation of the Mönchsberg in Salzburg with a height of 507 meters. The two kennels in the southwest of the Mönchsberg, the upper Falkenzwinger and the lower Bertholdszwinger are part of the historical fortifications of the mountain. They essentially date from the Middle Ages, but are occasionally erroneously called Lodron's kennels or Paris-Lodron kennels after Prince Archbishop Paris von Lodron. In 1906, the hill of the Upper Zwinger was named Eduard-Richter-Höhe in honor of the geographer, historian and alpinist Eduard Richter, and a monument was also erected to him there in 1907.
