Facts and practical information
The Ausrufstein is a slightly elevated stone platform located in the municipality of Mittelberg in Kleinwalsertal, Austria, and is part of the Walser Kulturweg. The stone weighs 1.8 tons.
Set in January 1595, it served for more than 300 years as a call-out stone on which the usher relayed important messages to fellow citizens after Sunday church services.
After the introduction of an official gazette in 1919, the stone lost its function.
On the front side there is a relief with the year of construction.
