Prebersee, Tamsweg
Facts and practical information
The Preberseeschießen is an annual water target shooting event held in August in the province of Salzburg, Austria, where shooters from all over the world compete since the year 1834. It takes place in the municipal area of Tamsweg at the Prebersee, which is located at the foot of the Preber. In this shooting competition, a bullet is supposed to bounce off the surface of the water after being shot and only then reach its target. If the angle of entry is sufficiently shallow, the water reflects the bullet, which pushes a hollow about three centimeters deep into the water and hits the wooden target as a ricochet or geller.
