Seethalerhütte

Facts and practical information

The Seethalerhütte, once called Dachsteinwartehütte, is an alpine club hut of the Austria Section of the ÖAV at an altitude of 2740 m above sea level east of and below the Hohe Dachstein on the edge of the Hallstätter Glacier and high above the Dachstein south face. Thus, it is the highest refuge in the Dachstein Mountains high above Ramsau directly on the border between Upper Austria and Styria. It is both a much-visited destination for day guests coming over from the nearby Hunerkogel and an important base for mountaineers who can undertake major mountain, glacier and climbing tours on the Dachstein from here. In winter, the surrounding area offers numerous opportunities for ski tours.

Right next to the hut is the exit of the "Johann-Klettersteig", built in 1999. The hut is also the starting point of the via ferrata "Schulteranstieg" on the Hohe Dachstein.
