Facts and practical information
The ruins of Rabenstein Castle, formerly called Virgen Castle, is the ruin of a hilltop castle in the municipality of Virgen, East Tyrol. The castle from the 12th century served until the beginning of the 18th century as the seat of the keeper of Virgen and then fell into disrepair. After larger parts of the complex collapsed in 1963, the current state of preservation was conserved through extensive security measures. With a total area of 4,800 m², it is considered the third largest medieval castle complex in Tyrol.
