Katrin

The Katrin is a mountain in Upper Austria near Bad Ischl. The mountain belongs to the Katergebirge in the Gamsfeldgruppe of the Salzkammergut mountains and is 1542 m high.
From Bad Ischl to the Katrin-Alm, a gondola lift takes you up to approx. 1,415 m above sea level in only 15 minutes. The Katrin cable car is a 4-person single-cable gondola lift with an inclined length of approx. 2,490 meters. The drive is located in the top station. The cable car to Mount Katrin was opened in 1959, rebuilt in 1976-1978 and underwent a comprehensive electrotechnical modernization in 2009. Until 2010, ski slopes with a length of 6 km were available in winter. In 1962, the Austrian Alpine Ski Championships were held here. From 2011 to 2014, the cable car was opened only in the summer months. Since the 2014/2015 winter season, the Katrin cable car has been in operation every weekend Friday, Saturday and Sunday until the end of March.
