Facts and practical information
Waagplatz is an irregular square in the old town of Salzburg, originally laid out as the oldest market square and court square. The square was used as a hay market in the 15th century and also as a bread market between about 1430 and 1650, which is why it was called Alter Brodmarkt.
Waagplatz narrows in the northwest into Judengasse. To the east, Waaplatz borders on the much larger Mozartplatz. The core of the town houses around Waagplatz dates back to the Middle Ages.
