Kaaitheater, Brussels
Facts and practical information
The Kaaitheater is a Dutch-speaking Brussels art center housed in a remarkable building of the city's heritage - the La Luna building - a transition between art deco and modernist styles, which originally housed the Lunatheater.
The Kaaitheater has two locations, both of which are in the waterfront district. In the main hall of the Luna, major contemporary theater and dance productions are presented, as well as concerts, with an emphasis on innovative works. Smaller productions and rehearsals are held in Kaaitheaterstudio's, a few hundred meters away, which is housed in a restored former brewery.
The adjoining building, a former Citroën dealership garage, will be transformed into a major new cultural and artistic center by 2020. It will house a museum of modern and contemporary art as well as an architecture center, which will house the Archives of Modern Architecture and the CIVA Foundation.
