Facts and practical information
Gonzaguinha Beach or São Vicente Beach is considered by many to be the liveliest beach in São Vicente, with several kiosks, bars, restaurants and stores. It is close to the city center and to historical attractions. It is the stage, every year, of the Staging of the Arrival of Martim Afonso de Sousa. With 800 meters long, it is located in a bay with calm waters, between the Standard Mark and Millionaires Beach. It is much used by people who practice sports such as yachting, jet-skiing, wakeboarding, and windsurfing, and is also frequented by local residents. It has benches and wooden decks for access to the sand, green space, kiosks with piassaba roofing along the boardwalk, and a private pier that makes daily trips around the Bay and its surroundings, islands, bars, restaurants, and stores.
Next to it is an icon of São Vicente : the square called Biquinha de Anchieta, where there is a water fountain that supplies water permanently. In this square are also sold sweets from kiosks built for this purpose.
In the extension of the Biquinha, is located the Ipupiara Square, where there are exhibitions, shows, sales of handicrafts on some occasions, as well as the traditional trenzinho ride for children.
