Patriarca da Floresta, Vassununga State Park

Patriarca is a specimen of jequitibá-rosa located in the Vassununga State Park, in the inland city of Santa Rita do Passa Quatro. It is a tree of controversial age, but consensually very old. It has been estimated to be more than three millennia old, but another calculation indicates that the Patriarca is actually about 580 years old, according to the head of the growth rings laboratory at the forest science department of the Luiz de Queiroz College of Agriculture, Mário Tomazello Filho.
The tree is 40 meters high, has a diameter of 3.6 meters and a circumference of 11.3 meters, its roots reach a depth of 18 meters and its gross weight has been calculated at 264 tons.
