The Pará Science Center and Planetarium - Sebastião Sodré da Gama, better known as the Pará Planetarium, is a science museum and planetarium attached to the University of Pará State, located in the city of Belém, Pará. It was the first of its kind in the northern region of Brazil, founded on September 30, 1999.
It was built mainly for the purpose of academic extension, to create possibilities to improve the teaching and learning of science, especially astronomy, to the students of the capital city of Pará. The Planetário do Pará generates and spreads science, education, and culture, and is also a center for tourism and leisure at the municipal and regional levels.
Its name pays homage to Sebastião Sodré da Gama, a scientist from Pará and director of the National Observatory in Rio de Janeiro from 1929 until his death.
In 2017 it was among the five most visited museums in the northern region.
