The city of São Paulo has several parks and environmental reserves. With all these parks, the city of São Paulo has less than 12m² of green space per inhabitant: less than what is recommended by the World Health Organization.
CentroParque da Luz: is the oldest park in the city, located next to the Estação da Luz and the Pinacoteca do Estado, in the district of Bom Retiro. It is often called Jardim Luz, as its area is relatively smaller than the current parks. Parque da Aclimação: located in the Liberdade district, it is one of the most famous parks in town, with an intense green area, a lake, and entertainment areas. The park is very frequented by people from various parts of the city. Parque Buenos Aires: It is a park located in the neighborhood of Higienópolis, in the Consolação district. It is a small park like a square, but with exuberant vegetation, winding paths and small slopes. It is frequented by residents who enjoy the dense shade or jogging and walking on the sidewalk around the outer perimeter of the park.
North ZoneHorto Florestal de São Paulo: is a park located in the district of Tremembé, situated at the foot of the Cantareira Mountains, within the Cantareira Park. The summer home of the Governor of the State of São Paulo is located here. Parque Anhangüera: It is a municipal park located in the extreme northwest of the capital, in the district of Perus. It has an area of approximately nine million square meters of Atlantic Forest, making it one of the largest parks in São Paulo. Cantareira Park: it is a São Paulo's Integral Protection Conservation Unit that covers part of the Cantareira Mountain Range, the largest native urban forest in the world, located in the northern part of the city. Parque Cidade de Toronto: it is a park located in the district of São Domingos. Parque da Juventude: park created on the site of the former Carandiru Penitentiary Complex, located in the Carandiru and Santana neighborhoods, north zone of the city. Jaraguá State Park: it is a park created around the highest point in São Paulo, the Pico do Jaraguá, which is also located in the Serra da Cantareira. From the top of Jaraguá, one can have a wide view of much of the city and the west side of the São Paulo metropolitan region. Lions Club Tucuruvi Park: it is a park located at Tucuruvi district. Parque São Domingos: it?s a park located at São Domingos district, north zone of the city. Parque Jardim Felicidade: a park located in the district of Pirituba. Parque Rodrigo de Gásperi: a park located in the district of Pirituba. Parque Vila dos Remédios: is a park located in the Jaguara district, near the meeting of the rivers Tietê and Pinheiros. Parque Vila Guilherme: it is a park belonging to the district of Vila Guilherme.
South ZoneParque do Ibirapuera: the most important and famous urban park in São Paulo, inaugurated on August 21, 1954, to celebrate the city's fourth centennial. Located in the Moema district, large and important events are held there. It has a rich architectural set, such as the Obelisk of São Paulo, the Oca, Cicillo Matarazzo Pavilion, Manuel da Nóbrega Pavilion, Eng. Armando de Arruda Pereira Pavilion, the Agriculture Palace, the Great Marquise, where the Modern Art Museum of São Paulo is located, the Ibirapuera Gymnasium, the Monument to the Flags, the Manequinho Lopes Nursery, the Ibirapuera Planetarium, the Municipal Astrophysics School, the renowned Ibirapuera Auditorium, and the Pedro Álvares Cabral Monument. Of all this, several works are by the renowned architect Oscar Niemeyer. The park has bike lanes and thirteen lighted courts, besides tracks for jogging, walking and resting, all integrated to the cultural area of the park. Parque da Independência: This park was inaugurated in 1988, in the district of Ipiranga. It is part of the National Historic Patrimony. It houses the Ipiranga Museum, the Monument to Independence, gardens and the Casa do Grito. The Independência Park has a total area of 184,830 m², of which: 51,960 m² of impermeable pavement, 124,500 m² of vegetation: forest; lawn; grassed area; 4,500 m² of fountain and stream and 3,870 m² of buildings. Fontes do Ipiranga State Park: it is an area in which you can still find remaining Atlantic Forest vegetation. It extends for 526 hectares. The park is actually a collection of other parks, institutions, secretariat, observatories, etc. Some of its spaces are open to public visitation, such as the Botanical Garden and the São Paulo Zoo. São Paulo Botanical Garden: it is one of the main Botanical Gardens in the country, and is located inside the Fontes do Ipiranga State Park. It is a preservation area of the Atlantic Forest, and is composed of woods, greenhouses, trails, lakes, the Dr. João Barbosa Rodrigues Botanical Museum and the Botanical Institute of São Paulo. Parque Zoológico de São Paulo: it is the biggest zoo in Brazil, and one of the biggest in the world. It is located in an area of 824,529 m² of original Atlantic Forest, with 4 km of boulevards. It houses the springs of the historic Ipiranga creek, south of the city of São Paulo. Parque Estadual da Serra do Mar: is a park with about 315 thousand hectares, which stretches from the border of the state of São Paulo and the state of Rio de Janeiro to Itariri, in the south of the state of São Paulo, and contains the largest continuous area of preserved Atlantic Forest in Brazil. In the city of São Paulo it is located in the extreme south, in the Marsilac district, at Serra do Mar. Parque Ecológico do Guarapiranga: it is a state park located at the margins of the Guarapiranga Dam, in the district of Jardim São Luís. Guarapiranga Park: it is a municipal park located by the Guarapiranga Dam, in the district of Jardim São Luís. Santo Dias Park: it is a park located near Capão Redondo district, a suburb in the southwest region of São Paulo. Severo Gomes Park: it is a park located in the neighborhood of Granja Julieta, in the district of Santo Amaro. Lina and Paulo Raia Park: a park located in São Paulo's Jabaquara district. Nabuco Park: it is a park located in the Cidade Ademar district, in the southern region of the city of São Paulo. Parque Comandante Jacques Cousteau: it is a park located in Interlagos a few meters from the Interlagos Race Track. APA - AREA OF ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION BORORORÉ-COLÔNIA: The APA has countless springs, streams and creeks that drain into the Guarapiranga and Billings Basins, both belonging to the Upper Tietê Basin, contributing in an essential way to the formation of the springs and water resources that supply nearly 30% of the metropolitan region of São Paulo. It is also part of the Area for the Protection and Recovery of Springs of the Billings Reservoir Hydrographic Basin.
East ZoneParque da Consciência Negra: is the second largest park in the city of São Paulo, with 130,135 m². The park was inaugurated on November 20, 2009, in the Cidade Tiradentes neighborhood. The park was a tribute to the residents, who are mostly afro-descendants. The park also has preserved Atlantic Forest and reforestation forests. On the inauguration day a baobab, a long-lived tree of African origin, was planted. Parque Ecológico do Tietê: it is an environmental protection area, where a park was installed. It is located in Várzea do Rio Tietê, between the cities of São Paulo, Itaquaquecetuba and Guarulhos. The park is a good option for leisure, receiving from 150 to 200 thousand visitors a month. Parque do Carmo: it is a municipal park located in the homonymous district of Parque do Carmo, in the east zone of the city of São Paulo. It has an area of approximately 1,500,000 square meters, being the largest park in the city of São Paulo and one of the largest in the metropolitan region. Piqueri Park: it is a park located in the district of Tatuapé, next to Marginal Tietê, and has an area of 97,272 square meters. There is a wide variety of flora, from small shrubs to large trees. Parque da Independência: This park was inaugurated in 1988, in the district of Ipiranga. It is part of the National Historic Patrimony. Parque Anália Franco, formerly known as Centro Educativo Recreativo Esportivo do Trabalhador, is a large place where recreational, educational, cultural, social, sportive, civic, and related programs are developed, located in Jardim Anália Franco, Vila Formosa district. Parque Ecológico Profª Lydia Natalizio Diogo - Vila Prudente: it is a park located in the district of Vila Prudente, in the southeast region of the city of São Paulo. Santa Amélia Park: a park located in the district of Itaim Paulista, in the eastern suburb of São Paulo. Parque Chácara das Flores: a park located in the eastern suburb of São Paulo, in the district of Guaianases. Parque Chico Mendes: a park in the district of Vila Curuçá, in the eastern suburbs of the city. Raul Seixas Park: a park located in the district of Itaquera. Parque Aterro Sapopemba is an urban park located in the Sapopemba district.
West ZoneTrianon Park: This is the Lieutenant Siqueira Campos Park, better known as Trianon Park or Trianon Park, which was inaugurated in April 1892 with the opening of Paulista Avenue in the city of São Paulo. It was designed by the French landscape architect Paul Villon, and is one of the most famous parks in the city of São Paulo, located on Paulista Avenue, in front of MASP and between the main financial center of the country. In its interior, besides the only remaining reserve of Atlantic Forest in the region, other attractions such as the statue of Fauno by Vítor Brecheret, a bird nursery, fountains, fountains, places for children's recreation, public toilets and an administrative center, making it a refuge of leisure and rest in the middle of the busy Avenida Paulista. It has 732 thousand m² of green area, bike path, playground, musical island for concerts and shows, and an Atlantic Forest forest. The leisure area also includes gym equipment, jogging track, basketball courts, 3 courts for indoor soccer, 7 for tennis, besides multi-sports courts, 4 soccer fields, 2.4 km of walking tracks, 1.5 km of bike lane. The park also promotes musical events, especially instrumental ones, such as orchestras and choro groups, and the Parque Villa-Lobos Tennis Complex hosts the São Paulo International Open Tennis Tournament. Parque do Povo: is a park located near Vila Olímpia. Currently it has three multi-sports courts, cycling, walking and running tracks, and gymnastic equipment. Luís Carlos Prestes Park: It is a small municipal park located in the far west of the city of São Paulo, in the neighborhood of Jardim Rolinópolis, Butantã district, near the Raposo Tavares highway. It has an area of 27,100m² and is situated on a sloping hillside, so that it has three distinct planes connected by rustic stairs joining the three plateaus. Parque Previdência: it is a municipal park located in the far west of the city, in the district of Jardim Rolinópolis, near the Raposo Tavares highway. It has an area of 91,500m². Burle Marx Park: it is a park located in the Vila Andrade district. It is located near Marginal Pinheiros, on Dona Helena Pereira de Morais Avenue, and was inaugurated in 1995. Its gardens were designed by the renowned landscaper Burle Marx, who gave the park its name. Água Branca Park: it is a 136,765.41 m² park, located in the west side of the city, near downtown. It was created on June 2, 1929, by Secretary of Agriculture Dr. Fernando Costa, with the purpose of housing exhibitions and zootechnical trials. At the time, Água Branca Avenue had not even been paved. In 1996, the park was declared by Condephaat as a cultural, historical, architectural, tourist, technological, and landscape heritage of the state of São Paulo. Today it is home to several associations of equine and bovine breeders. Alfredo Volpi Park: it is a park located in Cidade Jardim, Morumbi district, in the western part of the city. It has an area of 142,432 m². Formerly called Bosque do Morumbi, it was created aiming the environmental preservation through a significant remaining area of Atlantic Forest vegetation inserted in the urban tissue. Raposo Tavares Park: a park located in the western suburbs of the city, in the Butantã district. Parque dos Eucaliptos: a park located in the western suburbs of São Paulo, in the district of Vila Sônia.~, Parque Chácara do Jockey: a park located in the western suburbs of the city, in the district of Butantã. It has 143.5 thousand m², with areas for sports, culture, leisure, and education.
