Parque Tingui, Curitiba
Facts and practical information
Tingüi Park is one of the main parks in Curitiba, capital of the Brazilian state of Paraná. It is located in the northern part of the city, in the São João neighborhood. Its area follows a stretch of the Barigüi River margins, being part of a larger project that foresees the implementation of parks all along the river; in its continuation there is Parque Barigüi. Implemented in 1994, it has an area of 380 thousand m². It has lakes, covered wooden bridges, a playground, bike path, and a lot of green area.
Its name is a homage to the Tingüi people, an indigenous population that inhabited the region where Curitiba is now located, at the time of its colonization by the Portuguese.
The "Tingui" is part of a project aiming to implement a linear park, unifying the parks: Tingui, Tanguá and Barigui.
