When Is the Best Time To Visit Myanmar (Burma)?
The answer to the question of what is the best month to visit Myanmar (Burma) depends on what you are interested in doing during your stay. Here you can see an overview of each month and its typical weather conditions.
Tourist Season in Myanmar (Burma)
Myanmar is best visited during the peak tourist season from December to February, then we can count on ideal weather for relaxation. It is warm, but not hot, with temperatures oscillating between 25°C and 31°C, and rainfall is sporadic. The exceptions are the mountainous regions in the north and east (including the Shan Mountains, the area around Inle Lake), where it is a few degrees less, and evenings and nights are sometimes cool. However, this does not interfere with trekking and hiking arrangements, as you can still count on plenty of sunshine during the day. The west and south coasts (Ngapali, Ngwe Saung) have very good conditions for beachcombing, sea bathing and diving.
March and April and October and November are the transitional period, even though the weather is not as ideal as in high season it is still a good time to visit Myanmar.

March - April
Mar | Apr |
March and April mark the end of the dry season and herald the beginning of the rainy season. It gets hotter and steamier, temperatures reach 33°C - 38°C, and rainfall also gradually increases. The heat can be hard to bear, especially for those unaccustomed to the roasting sun and humid air. This period is good for those who want to organize a trip at a cheaper cost and avoid the crowds in the most popular destinations (including Yangon, Mandalay, Bagan).

The rainy season in Myanmar lasts from May to about mid-October and is the time outside the tourist season. Due to heavy rainfall and high humidity, this is not a good time to visit the country. Days are hot and steamy, with temperatures hovering around 30°C. There are short-lived but intense downpours almost every day. Some roads and mountain trails are flooded, making it impossible to reach some regions of the country. The heaviest rainfall is on the Andaman Coast, so most resorts have been closed since mid-June. Also in the Shan highlands, the weather is not favorable, and in addition to heavy rains, cold gusty winds will be encountered.
