Unicentro, Cali

Unicentro Cali is a shopping mall in the Colombian city of Cali, capital of the Valle del Cauca department. Like the other shopping centers of the Unicentro brand, it was built by Pedro Gómez y Cia.
It had in June 2013, a total area of more than 137,200 m² and more than 100,000 m² built, of which 65,000 m² correspond to the commercial area.
It has more than 390 commercial spaces, 182 offices and 2,800 parking spaces for cars.
The Unicentro Cali P.H. was inaugurated in 2007 the Oasis Building, composed of commercial premises, a new food court and offices. The roof of this building won the World Design Award in its category in 2009. It is a building with bioclimatic architecture and in its space the temperature is 1.5 degrees Celsius lower than the rest of the shopping center area.
Since 2011, the total remodeling of all the built areas of Unicentro began; works that would be completed in 2014. The remodeling was also carried out with bioclimatic architecture and its more than 100,000 daily visitors already enjoy this benefit. The branches and branches of the extensive vegetation were incorporated in the design through the skies and roofs so as not to cut any of them, maintaining as an essential principle of the project the respect for nature and the environment.
Currently the development of new stages of growth of commercial, leisure and complementary spaces to meet the needs of visitors is in progress. For the month of August 2013 will be annexed the last areas built for a total of 15,500 m².
The directive of Unicentro foresees the construction of a theatre for the great community of the South of Cali and the city. The interests of the educational institutions of the city, the cultural authorities of Santiago de Cali and private companies are combined in this purpose.
