The Naked Bolivar is a monument made by the master Rodrigo Arenas Betancourt and the engineer Guillermo Gonzalez Zuleta that is located in the Bolivar Square in the Colombian city of Pereira.
The monument was inaugurated in August 1963 on the occasion of the city's centennial. For its elaboration, the master Arenas signed a contract in January 1955 with the mayor of Pereira Lázaro Nicholls for $300,000 Colombian pesos.
It weighs 14 tons and was cast in bronze in the workshop of Abraham Gonzalez Holguin in Mexico and later transported by ship from the port of Acapulco.
Although the work was the subject of controversy at first, it is now a symbol of the capital city of the department of Risaralda.
