When Is the Best Time To Visit Croatia?
The answer to the question of what is the best month to visit Croatia depends on what you are interested in doing during your stay. Here you can see an overview of each month and its typical weather conditions.
Tourist Season in Croatia
The best time to visit Croatia includes the summer months from June to August. Temperatures then reach around 30°C in the north and east and close to 40°C on the southern Adriatic coasts. The season for beachcombing and sea bathing is underway.
If you are set on sightseeing and want to avoid the hottest months, it is worth organizing a trip during spring (April-May) or autumn (September-October). Lower temperatures allow you to comfortably explore Croatia's sights.
The winter months (November to March) are outside the tourist season. Low temperatures and increased rainfall and, in some regions, snow can complicate your visit. During this time, forget about frolicking on beaches and in the waters of the Adriatic Sea, and mountain areas are snow-covered, making trekking and climbing difficult.

Spring months giving rise to the tourist season in Croatia. Temperatures fluctuate around 20°C. Days are warm and sunny, but may be accompanied by fleeting rainfall and thunderstorms. Unfortunately, the weather is not yet conducive to beachcombing and sea bathing, as the water temperature averages 11°C - 15°C. Spring is a good time for people who value the opportunity to visit cities and national parks higher than relaxing on the beach. Moderate temperatures and awakening nature create comfortable conditions for hiking and walking.

The summer months, the hottest of the year. The weather throughout Croatia is sunny and relatively rain-free. Every day you can count on cloudless skies and about 10 hours of sunshine. Air temperatures reach 30°C - 40°C, while water temperatures are around 25°C. This is an ideal time for those who want to relax on the coasts and islands. The "Mistral" wind clearly refreshes the air and provides excellent conditions for water sports like sailing and surfing. You can also rent a boat during this time and circumnavigate the surrounding islands. Summer is also the best time to organize trekking and climbing in the higher parts of the mountains.

The winter months, the coldest and rainiest of the year. In northern and eastern areas, temperatures can drop below 0°C, and the same is true in the Dinaric Mountains and the Gorski Kotar region, where frosts and snowfall are common. Winters on the coasts and Croatian islands are milder, with temperatures below 0°C almost non-existent, but there is considerable rainfall. During these months, the southern coasts (including Dubrovnik) are the warmest, and we can count on temperatures of 11°C - 15°C. The winter period is outside the tourist season so many hotels, guesthouses and tourist attractions are closed then.
