Hrušeň v Drahovicích, Karlovy Vary
Facts and practical information
The pear tree in Drahovice is a monumental tree, an ancient pear tree. At the time of its designation as a memorial tree, it was the second largest tree of its kind in the Czech Republic. It grows in the sloping terrain below the prefabricated houses in Karlovy Vary in the Drahovice district, to the left of the pedestrian walkway, which is connected to the local road leading along the gardening colony. The circumference of the trunk measures 366 cm, the crown of the tree, after a health pruning in 2009, reaches a height of 9 m.
When a branch broke off in 1969, the pear tree was to be cut down the following year. However, this plan was abandoned after protests from local residents.
The tree has been protected since 2008 as a dendrologically valuable taxon and a landscape landmark with significant growth.
