Františkánský klášter, Hejnice
Facts and practical information
The Church of the Visitation of the Virgin Mary is a Baroque church at the Franciscan monastery in Hejnice. It is located on the site of an old pilgrimage site whose origins date back to the 13th century. It is sometimes referred to as a basilica, but the process of elevating the church to a minor basilica was not yet completed, remaining at the level of diplomatic protocol before the outbreak of World War II. It is probably one of the oldest Marian pilgrimage sites in the Litoměřice diocese. A Gothic statue of the Virgin Mary, 38 cm high, called the Glorious Mother, is venerated here.
