Blatná Castle is located in the town of the same name about 60 km northwest of České Budějovice and 95 km southwest of Prague. Blatná is undeniably one of the most historically valuable and architecturally significant monuments of its kind in the Czech Republic. Originally, it was a fortress whose origins date back to the 13th century. During the 14th century the fortress acquired the character of a Gothic castle. In the following centuries, the chateau was further modified and acquired a three-winged layout with a courtyard open to the park.
The castle is privately owned and is open to the public during the tourist season. The chateau park is open all year round.
