The ruins of Obřany Castle are located northeast of the Brno city districts of Maloměřice and Obřany in the cadastral area of the municipality of Kanice. It lies above the Svitava valley next to the Těsnohlídkov valley. Its remains are protected as a cultural monument of the Czech Republic.

Boček of Kunštát and Poděbrady named the newly founded castle Obřany in the Hostýn Hills near Bystřice pod Hostýnem after the extinct family seat near Brno.
