Facts and practical information
The Lednice Ponds National Nature Reserve is part of the Lednice-Valtice area. It was proclaimed on 9 January 1953 on an area of 552.5 ha to protect an important breeding ground for water birds. The pond system consists of five ponds. NPR Lednické rybníky consists of the ponds Nesyt, Hlohovecký, Prostřední, Mlýnský and Zámecký. The altitude of the reserve is 160-175 m.
There is also a designated bird area in the NPR. Many species of waterfowl nest here and the area is also a resting place for birds migrating south.
