When Is the Best Time To Visit Czech Republic?

The answer to the question of what is the best month to visit Czech Republic depends on what you are interested in doing during your stay. Here you can see an overview of each month and its typical weather conditions.

Climate of Czech Republic

The Czech Republic lies in a temperate continental climate zone characterized by warm summers and moderately cold winters. A major influence on the variation of weather in the various regions is mainly due to altitude. Higher mountainous areas are definitely cooler and rainier than lowland areas.

In summer in lowland areas, average air temperatures fluctuate between 20°C and 25°C. Thanks to the influence of tropical air, hot days with temperatures reaching 30°C are not at all uncommon. Winters are cloudy, but relatively mild (from -6°C to 0°C). Precipitation is year-round (from 500 mm to 700 mm), with snow in winter and rain along with thunderstorms in summer.

There is climatic stackedness in the mountains, where temperatures and precipitation depend on altitude, the higher the altitude, the cooler and wetter it is. In summer, the daytime mercury column generally does not fall below 8°C - 15°C. Winters are harsh (about -10°C) and snowy, especially in the higher parts of the mountains (Giant Mountains, Sudetes). On the slopes of the mountains, snow cover persists for several months, usually from December to March. Annual precipitation in the mountains is much higher than in the rest of the country, ranging from 1000 mm to 1500 mm.
