When Is the Best Time To Visit Czech Republic?
The answer to the question of what is the best month to visit Czech Republic depends on what you are interested in doing during your stay. Here you can see an overview of each month and its typical weather conditions.
Tourist Season in Czech Republic
The Czech Republic is best visited during the summer months of June to August, when the warm and sunny weather is favorable for exploring all regions. From large cities like Prague through the lowlands to the mountainous regions. However, even during this period there is no avoiding rain, which comes in the form of torrential downpours accompanied by thunderstorms. Summer is a very good time for hiking on mountain trails and climbing in higher elevations.
Spring (April-May) and autumn (September-October), although a bit cooler, are also good times to visit. It is possible to organize round trips around the country and short trips of a few days (city-break) associated with visits to major cities. Also, nature in a spring or autumn setting encourages all forms of active recreation.
In contrast, the cloudy and cold winter period (November to March) is outside the tourist season. Increased rain or snowfall makes sightseeing somewhat more difficult, traffic problems may occur, and some mountain trails and tourist attractions are inaccessible to tourists. Only high in the mountains in winter is the ski season underway.

April - May
Apr | May |
The spring months bring gradual warming and melt across the country. Temperatures rise to around 12°C - 18°C, only nights and mountain regions remain a few degrees cooler. Although we can count on a good dose of sunshine during this period, unfortunately, we can't avoid some fleeting rain.
April and May are a good time for sightseeing, especially for those who want to avoid the greatest heat and peak tourist season. The use of thermal pools and spas (including Karlovy Vary, Cieplice) is possible all year round, however, during this period we will avoid the wave of tourists and ensure a more intimate holiday. In spring, nature awakens to life, the snows in the mountains melt, and the fields and mountain slopes are covered with greening grass and flowers, creating amazing views. More and more mountain trails are available for hiking or biking.
