Værket, Randers
Facts and practical information
The work is a music and theatre house in Randers.
The plant was inaugurated on 1 October 1990 in the buildings on Mariagervej near the centre of Randers, which previously housed Randers Electricity Works. The building complex had been empty since the city's modern combined heat and power plant at the city's harbour was commissioned eight years earlier. The buildings were designed by architect Julius Smith, and the special architecture was largely preserved during the renovation and conversion into a cultural centre.
The building consists of the Turbine Hall, which is used as a theatre hall by the Randers Egnsteater, the Ridehuset, which is used for large concerts, the art cinema KG:Bio and a number of smaller halls, meeting and rehearsal rooms.
There is also a restaurant named after the town's son, the artist Sven Dalsgaard.
