Abbaye Saint-Gildas-de-Rhuys, Saint-Gildas-de-Rhuys
Facts and practical information
Saint-Gildas de Rhuys Abbey is an ancient Benedictine abbey whose legendary foundation is linked to the second wave of migration to Armorica with the arrival on the continent of Saint Gildas. But its history is not well known. However, in recent years, there seems to be a renewed interest in this monastery, which today remains one of the most beautiful Romanesque churches in Brittany.
The abbey church has been classified as a historical monument since 1840. The Office des monuments historiques registered various objects of the furniture as historical monuments in 1914.
