The caves of Calès, near Lamanon, at the eastern end of the Alpilles massif, are a settlement site that was occupied from prehistoric times until the 15th century.
They are composed, on several levels of the cliff, of troglodytic habitats dug by man. They were used either as a refuge or as a permanent residence over the millennia.
