The Saint-Jean de Sorde abbey is located in the commune of Sorde-l'Abbaye, in the French department of Landes. It is a former Benedictine abbey founded before 960, partially classified as a historical monument on August 25, 1909 and January 31, 2008. The old abbey is a natural site classified by ministerial order of October 22, 1942. It was listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1998, as part of the pilgrimage routes to Santiago de Compostela in France.
