Saint-Pierre-aux-Liens Church, Cergy
Facts and practical information
The Saint-Pierre-aux-Liens church is a Catholic church located in Osny, France. It has a transept from a first Romanesque church of the late eleventh century, with a northern crossing still unchanged except for the vault, a choir of the early thirteenth century, still in the early Gothic style, and a Gothic bell tower contemporary with the choir. The nave and aisles were built new only at the end of the 19th century, imitating the 13th century model, never properly repaired since the Hundred Years' War. As a whole, the church of St. Peter has no specific architectural features, but the old parts are of archaeological interest. The bell tower and the choir have been registered as historical monuments since 1926 and 1948 respectively; the transept is not yet protected, although it is the oldest part. Following an arson attack, the eastern parts of the church were restored in 2008. Saint-Pierre-aux-Liens church is still the center of Osny's parish life, and Sunday masses are celebrated there on Saturday evenings and Sunday mornings.
