Facts and practical information

The castle of Machuraz - sometimes called the castle of Artemare - is a 16th century castle remodeled in the 19th century by Benoît-Joseph Chatron, which stands at the place called Machuraz in the town of Vieu in the department of Ain and the region Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes. It is the successor of an old fortified house which itself replaced an old barn and a tower attached to it later.

The entire estate and the castle, the gates, the outbuildings, the stables, the cellar, the north staircase and its fountain, the house, the vegetable garden and the park gate were listed as historical monuments by order of November 6, 2006.
