Château de Médavy
Facts and practical information
The castle of Médavy, located halfway along the road linking Argentan to Sées, in the commune of Médavy in the Orne department, is a beautiful 18th century residence of classical architecture inspired by Mansart, built on the foundations of an older fortress as evidenced by the moat and two imposing towers. The present main building was erected between 1705 and 1724 by Jacques-Léonor Rouxel de Médavy, Marshal of France, and the ensemble was embellished between 1754 and 1789 by Pierre Thiroux de Monregard, general farmer of the posts and relays of France.
