Facts and practical information

The Neuves-Maisons mine or Mine du Val de Fer or Mine Maron-Val de Fer is an iron mining operation whose entrances are located in Neuves-Maisons, as well as Chaligny and Maron, on the edge of the Haye forest, in the Meurthe-et-Moselle department, in Lorraine. The mine was exploited from 1874 until 1968. The total length of the galleries is about 400 kilometers. A Zublin ore accumulator, a building listed as a historical monument, built in the early 1930s, is being rehabilitated and can be seen today on the mine floor.
