Facts and practical information
The viaduct of Fauvettes or viaduct of Angoulême or viaduct of Bures is a disused railway bridge of the former line of Ouest-Ceinture to Chartres also known as the line from Paris to Chartres by Gallardon; It is located on the communes of Gometz-le-Châtel and Bures-sur-Yvette, in Essonne; it spans the ru d'Angoulême and overhangs the valley of the Yvette, near the Bois des Fauvettes, hence its different names. It is today a leisure base. It is used as a training site for climbing and sport caving, and also occasionally for training paragliders to open the rescue parachute under zip line.
