Facts and practical information
The column or obelisk of Helfaut is a memorial built in memory of the death of the duke and prince of Orleans, near Saint-Omer, on the plateau of Helfaut.
It is in fact more like an obelisk placed on a cubic base. The work is made of stones of a relatively soft limestone, probably taken in the vicinity. Very degraded, it was restored at the end of the 1990s.
