Facts and practical information
The port-museum of Douarnenez, Finistère, inaugurated in May 1993, is located at the Port-Rhu on the old ria of Pouldavid which separates Douarnenez and the district of Tréboul. It took over from the former Boat Museum, opened in 1985 on the initiative of the local association Treizour created in 1979. In 1986, the association donated to the city of Douarnenez its collection of hulls collected since its creation and the museum became municipal. The port-museum is dedicated to boats and men from Brittany and elsewhere. It has a collection of national reference, as an invitation to travel through the maritime cultures of the world.
