The fort of Variselle is a high altitude fortification located in the commune of Val-Cenis, in the department of Savoie. Built by the Italians from 1877 under the name of Forte Varisello, its function was to defend the Val de Suse from a French attack coming from the Mont-Cenis pass. The site became French in 1947.
