Synagogue de Verdun, Verdun
Facts and practical information
The synagogue of Verdun is a synagogue located in Verdun in the Meuse department in the Grand Est region.
The first synagogue built in 1805 was destroyed by bombing during the Franco-German war of 1870. The current synagogue was built from 1873 to 1875 in the Spanish-Moorish style. Desecrated by the Germans during the Second World War, it was restored by members of the American Army's Jewish community. The former rabbi's house is adjacent to the synagogue, which is the only example in Lorraine.
It has been classified as a historical monument since October 7, 2002, and has several classified objects of worship since December 7, 1998.
