The Nógrád castle is the oldest irregularly shaped stone castle in Hungary, with an inner tower. It is the eponymous castle of the village of Nógrád, hidden in the Börzsöny, which is surrounded by the Ipoly river in a semicircle, and crowns a large plateau rising sixty metres from the surrounding countryside.
