Haláp
Facts and practical information
Haláp is the northern, most excavated member of the Tapolca Basin witness hills. During intensive basalt mining between 1912 and 1980, a large part of the mountain - the centre of the basalt cap - was removed, leaving the rim of the cavity with a beautiful, columnar basalt partition. From the remaining rim there is a beautiful panorama of the Tapolca basin, the Csobánc and the other witness hills. At the southern foot of the double stump-shaped mountain is the village of Zalahaláp, with its renowned tradition.
