Suicide (Purple Jumping Man)

The painting "Suicide (Purple Jumping Man)" created in 1963 by the renowned American pop artist Andy Warhol, is a compelling silkscreen artwork. It is currently displayed in the Tehran Museum of Contemporary Art in Iran's capital. The museum was founded in the 1970s by the Iranian royal couple, Mohammad Reza Pahlavi and Farah Diba, as part of their modernization efforts. Art dealer Tony Shafrazi played a pivotal role in acquiring this significant piece for the museum's collection. During the same period, Warhol also created portraits of the king and queen.

"Suicide (Purple Jumping Man)" is distinguished by its use of two sequential images captured by a documentary photographer, depicted in black ink against a striking purple background. Tony Shafrazi highly regards this work, considering it one of Warhol's masterpieces and estimating its value at approximately 70 million dollars.
