Three Archangels and Young Tobias

"Three Archangels with Young Tobias" is an exquisite painting by the Italian Renaissance artist Filippino Lippi, created in 1485. This masterpiece can be admired at the Galleria Sabauda in Turin. The artwork features three archangels—Michael, Raphael, and Gabriel (holding a lily)—accompanied by young Tobias, the son of Tobit.

The composition of this painting evokes comparisons to a similar piece by Francesco Botticini, which also portrays Tobias. Botticini's work was initially displayed in the Santo Spirito church in Florence and now resides in the Uffizi Gallery. Lippi's depiction of the angels bears a striking resemblance to those he painted in the "Liberation of St. Peter" in the Brancacci Chapel.

Interestingly, this painting was originally believed to be the work of Sandro Botticelli or his workshop, highlighting the close stylistic connections among these Renaissance masters.
