Facts About KCON
KCON is an annual Korean wave convention organized by CJ E&M, held in various locations around the world. Launched in Southern California as KCON USA, it expanded to eight countries by 2018. In 2015, KCON debuted in Japan and on the East Coast of the USA, and by 2016, it had spread to Abu Dhabi in the UAE and Paris, France. KCON Mexico was added to the lineup in 2017. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, KCON:TACT, an online version of the event, was introduced in 2020.
Initially created in 2012 by Koreaboo in collaboration with Mnet America, KCON aimed to enhance the experiences of American K-pop fans by providing an affordable way to connect with their favorite artists and industry professionals. Over the years, the event has evolved to focus on boosting Korea's brand value and fostering long-term growth in the global market.
Each KCON event features memorable moments, including a lineup of popular artists, exciting performances, and impressive attendee numbers. The convention has been well-received, with media outlets highlighting its role in increasing K-pop's popularity in the US and its success in bringing fans together.
